Juniper - Juniperus communis
The juniper is a small, evergreen tree that is found across the UK, though native to Scotland, it is less common due to the climate.
Junipers can be identified by their needle and/or scale like leaves and deep blue berry-like cones.
The berries are often used in cooking and are the main flavour in gin, which derives its name from the Dutch word for juniper, genever.
